Life is long enough
for ice to thaw
and come back again.

We are swept quite clean,
right off our feet
and to the dirty floor.

There is hope to share
and need to care
what happens to our world
is not our fault
or duty to halt.

Death is short enough
to laugh at us
and call us fools.

Still we strive to be
made of new lessons
and happy truths.

There is faith in hate
and the strings of fate
pulling us for all our lives
to God-knows-where
and Who-cares.

We are strong enough
for the rule of law
to give up and break.

So walk your path
to the end - not back
so keep your course true.

I can’t measure you
or what you know is true –
I must find this faith
in what we can’t know
but say is so.

We are weak enough
to not embrace
chaos and entropy.

These things are natural
and provable
so have faith in them.

I can’t quite believe
this is how we live
so long and hard and slow
when we walk our paths
and not look back.
