I'm a ghost
of the old and the new.
And I hope
I can heal all your wounds.

You confide
in me all your desires,
as you cry
on my shoulder for hours.

"Memories, memories, memories,
"watching over me."
Dreams, dreams, dreams -
dream only of me.

I'm a lie
told by your empty room.
I'm a hope
for a good dream come true.

I'm a stone,
untouched by wind and rain.
I'm a friend
who wisely remains the same.

Somehow I will make it better,
someday we will grow together,
somehow we will share one heart,
someday we will be forced to part.

You are lost
in your tears for a soldier.
You're a child
now grown so much older.

You are blamed
For being just what you seem.
You’re a dream
I’d give my life to redeem.

"Memories, memories, memories,
"watching over me."
Dreams, dreams, dreams -
dream only of me.

"Au Revoir au Passé"
"...Parce que j'oublierai l'avenir."

Unusually decipherable for me. Guess it's a phase.

I promise, the next will be satisfyingly impenetrable.

And I edit to say that I have been informed that this is not necessarily easily decipherable. It's a teddy bear watching his owner grow up.

The teddy bear's name is "Theodore Edward Bear" (or Ted E. Bear for short) and we have gone back and forth on whether the song should be called "Theodore" or "Goodbye to the Past" ("Au Revoir au Passé" was rejected fairly early).

So, good-evil-or-something-in-between-because-good-and-evil-are-subjective readers; tell me which you prefer!

No, I'm not kidding myself that I have readers in the plural, but that's the point. It amuses me, at least.
